PastorLife began in the heart of Dr. J. Mike Minnix many years ago. His initial idea was to create a newsletter to assist pastors and Bible teachers with materials and ideas for faithfully communicating God’s Word. With the advent of the computer, and subsequently the Internet, he felt the best way to help ministers was through a website. He created a website for the Georgia Baptist Convention during the year 2000, and continued as editor of the site until January 2010. In 2011, after retiring from the Georgia Baptist Convention, he began www.PastorLife.com in order to continue assisting God’s servants.
He pastored churches in the Southern Baptist Convention for more than 40 years and served as Vice President for Evangelization at the Georgia Baptist Convention in Atlanta, Georgia for 3 1/2 years. He previously served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Lilburn, Georgia (Metro Atlanta) for 12 years. Dr. Minnix holds a B.A. (cum laude), a M.Div. (summa cum laude) and a D.Min. (summa cum laude) having attended Gardner Webb College (University), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Trinity Theological Seminary. He was the Doctoral Scholar graduate at Trinity Theological Seminary in 1993.
Dr. Minnix was elected President of the North Carolina Pastor’s Conference in 1989, and has served in various denominational committee positions in North Carolina, Georgia and in the Southern Baptist Convention. He served as Guest Chaplain to the Georgia State House Of Representatives and Guest Chaplain to the Georgia State Senate during the 1990s.
He delivered the Mission’s Sermon at the 2002 Georgia Baptist Convention in Atlanta, Georgia and has spoken in numerous revivals and conferences, led Christian radio and television ministries in previous churches, and served on various boards for Christian leaders. He has served as interim pastor for several churches, including Mountain Park First Baptist Church, Lilburn, Georgia; First Baptist Church, Snellville, Georgia; First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Georgia, and others.
He authored three books. Christian Seniors Living Super Lives, was published by Tate Publishers, 2013, and two books were published by Evangel Publications: Panorama of the Bible, and Panorama of the Bible – Pastor’s Supplement, 1993.
He has been married to his wife Jayne for more than fifty-six years, and they have and they have two grown children and four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Mike and Jayne live in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.
The messages and materials on PastorLife conform to the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000, of the Southern Baptist Convention.
